A judicial coup? - 20 Jun 2012
Gone: 'The office of the prime minister stands vacant'
KARACHI: This is with reference to your editorial “A judicial coup?” (June 20). A ‘coup’ involves usurping someone else’s power. The chief justice is still the chief justice; he is not the president, chief executive, martial law administrator or the dark knight.
Therefore, this decree by the Supreme Court to declare Yousaf Raza Gilani disqualified from his post of prime minister cannot in any way be termed a coup.

No, it is perhaps a unique phenomenon that can even be defined, it’s much worst than the coup where at least the main players are in the open and w know who is who. Here everyone is hiding behind a black veil of legal confusion put out by those supposedly guarding the rule of law. You are right about the CJ “he is not the president, chief executive, martial law administrator or the dark knight.” only problem is that the man is acting like all of them at the same time.
