LAHORE:

The registration of volunteers for the Punjab Youth Festival (PYF) is underway with the government describing it as the first major event being organised under the Punjab Youth Policy that was announced on June 6.

Usman Anwar, director general of sports, said online registration of volunteers for the PYF has started on the Punjab Sports Board website. He said that youth were being invited to offer suggestions online for “an event where a Guinness World Record” can be set. The government has put up details of the festival on the website and has asked people to.

Sabiha Shaheen, executive director of Bargad, told The Tribune that she believed the government was serious about implementing the policy. “The biggest challenge in implementation is to ensure that an independent and strong youth commission is formed,” she said.
