Water shortage: Kehal residents block road

Published: June 18, 2012

ABBOTABAD: Hundreds of residents of Kehal took to the streets on Sunday over a week-long suspension of water supply to their locality. The protesters, led by Javed Khan, gathered at Kehal Chowk and blocked the highway for over an hour. They chanted slogans against the Tehsil Municipal Authorities (TMA) and the provincial government and demanded that their water supply be resumed immediately. The protesters said they have lodged several complaints with TMA but to no avail. They added that the water shortage coupled with prolonged loadshedding has made their lives very difficult. The protesters dispersed after TMA officials assured them of uninterrupted water supply to their locality. TMA had earlier notified suspension of water supply to the area due to a faulty pump.
