Three people, including a political party worker, were shot dead on Saturday in separate acts of violence in Hyderabad.
A worker of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) was shot dead and two others were injured in a clash with men belonging to another political party. The incident took place in Gharib Nawaz Colony in Lalu Machi village, within the jurisdiction of Hali Road police station. The fight erupted when the workers of one party tried to erase the wall-chalking of the other. Mujahid Tunio, 22, was killed while Ghulam Mustafa Solangi and Kamran Solangi were injured.
Muhammad Saleh Tunio, the father of the killed man, registered an FIR at the Hali Road police station under sections 302 and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Five suspects were nominated. SHO Malik Qamar told The Express Tribune that none of these men have been arrested so far.
JSQM workers, led by the party’s district president, Masroor Thebo, held a protest outside the press club. They condemned the killing and demanded the arrest of the killers.
In an unrelated incident, a 30-year-old man was shot dead outside his shop in Anaj Mandi, within the jurisdiction of Market police station. The victim, Shakir alias Zubair Lodhi, was attacked by two unidentified men as he was opening his shop. The killing sparked anger amongst the traders of the area, who said that they would remain on strike till the perpetrators were arrested. The president of the Grain and Seed Merchant Association, Haji Haroon, led a protest in Anaj Mandi against the killing. “We are fed up with the daily murders, robberies and extortion cases,” he said.
SSP Haseeb Afzal Beg met the protesters and assured them that law enforcers will cooperate with them. An FIR has not been registered as yet.
