KARACHI: At least 11 people were killed in separate acts of violence on Friday.

A 40-year-old man identified as Pir Dad, was shot dead on his way home in Baloch Para, said the PIB Colony police. They claimed that Pir Dad was the uncle of alleged gangster Ahmed Ali Magsi. The suspects shot him in the head and leg using Kalashnikovs and 9mm pistols. Pir Dad was taken to Liaquat National Hospital and Medical College where he succumbed to his injuries. “It seems as if the situation is going to get worse,” East Zone DIG Shahid Hayat told The Express Tribune. “If Magsi’s group and a certain political party sat down and resolved their issues, the law and order situation wouldn’t have been so bad.”

Ahmed Ali Magsi has been nominated in several target killing cases, including Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Sector Committee member, Mansoor Mukhtar, around three months ago.

A man identified as Ayub Baloch, 27, was killed while his relative, 30-year-old Nadeem Baloch, was injured when at least two men on a motorcycle shot at them near Gilani Masjid at Ghulam Hussain Qasim Road. They were taken to Civil hospital, where Ayub succumbed to his injuries. SHO Mutahir Hussain, who was later suspended over a series of target killings within his jurisdiction, said that both victims were from Balochistan and were in the city to visit family.

In an unrelated incident, Razzak Baloch was gunned down in Hassan Lashkari village, said the Garden police. SHO Hussain said that Razzak used to run a ‘dabbu club’ and was shot outside the club.

A unidentified man was shot dead at Nishter Road. In an unrelated incident, two men killed police constable Abdul Qayyum, 40, outside his home in Pathan Colony, said the SITE A Section police. His neighbour, Omar Bahadur, 23, was also injured in the incident. SHO Rao Rafiq said Qayyum was posted at the SITE A Section police station. He was sitting outside his house during a power outage in his neighbourhood when unidentified armed men shot and killed him.

In another incident, a 45-year-old man identified as Shujaat, was killed in Bijli Nagar in Orangi Town, said the Mominabad police. SHO Nasir Mehmood said that Shujaat was from Swat and had been working as a labourer. Shujaat was standing at a bus stop when two men on a motorcycle opened fire at him. The police suspect that he was killed over personal enmity.

A man identified as Asif Baloch was shot dead near his home in Jahangir Road, said the Jamshed Quarters police. Initial investigation suggested that Asif was an alleged drug dealer and was killed by his accomplices.

So all the victims are Balochs if you read carefully. Why the government doesn't take action against racist groups?
