Bad bed: Furniture house sued for Rs500,000

Petitioner said two beds were delivered and did not match his specifications.

A consumer court issued notice to the proprietors of Madina Furniture House for July 5 in a suit seeking Rs500,000 in damages for delivering substandard beds.


Petitioner Syed Nadeem Shah said that on March 10, 2011 he had placed an order with Madina Furniture house proprietors Muhammad Bashir and Muhammad Yousaf to manufacture three beds.

He said he had paid them Rs40,000 out of the total of Rs47,000 agreed upon. He said the beds were to be delivered in three months. He said two beds were delivered and did not match his specifications.

He said the respondents promised to replace the beds but that never happened nor was the third bed delivered. He prayed the court to direct the respondents to pay him Rs500,000 in damages.

The court issued a notice for July 5 to the proprietors of the furniture house. Respondent Muhammad Yousaf could not be reached for a comment.
