Islamabad’s first top cop: Malik Nawaz passes away

Served as Islamabad IGP from January 1, 1981 to September 3, 1986.

ISLAMABAD: Former Inspector General of Police and first head of the Islamabad Police Malik Muhammad Nawaz passed away here on Tuesday at the age of 78. He was regarded as an efficient police officer who served as Islamabad IGP from January 1, 1981 to September 3, 1986. The Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) Association expressed its grief and sorrow. A statement issued by PSP Association said that Malik Muhammad Nawaz never compromised on principles and was known for his immense leadership qualities and unwavering commitment to professional policing. “The PSP fraternity mourns the death of a police officer who became a symbol of dedication and commitment for his colleagues and juniors,” said the statement. PSP Association also conveyed their condolences to the officer’s family members.
