PESHAWAR: Abid Ali and the injured Fahim Ahmad of Pakistan Air Force advanced into the semi-finals of the All Pakistan Governor Cup Boxing Tournament.

In the 56kg category, Abid defeated Khurram Muhammad of Rangers while Fahim outplayed Fahad of Punjab in 60kg. “My right hand was injured and I didn’t want to compete but my coach compelled me to play,” Fahim told The Express Tribune before adding that he was given only one day’s training and playing in such a big event created problems for him. “Playing in the semi-final could be difficult for me but if my coach insists, I won’t let him down.”

Arshid of Army defeated Sajid Farman of Rangers and Muhammad Hussain defeated Muhammad Ali of Balochistan in the 60kg category. In the 64kg event, Sindh’ Mer Balach defeated Shahid Hussain of Navy to reach the semi-finals.
