FAISALABAD:

A Model Bazaar will soon be set up in the city where daily-use items will be available on subsidised rates, District Coordination Officer Naseem Sadiq said on Thursday.

He was speaking at a meeting to review arrangements for the establishment of the bazaar.

DCO Sadiq said the bazaar would be established on a 13-acre plot on Jhang Road. He said the bazaar would be in business four days a week on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. He said the bazaar will have designated areas for groceries, poultry, beverages, clothing and crockery.

Besides these, he said, a food street and a marriage lawn were also part of the project.

The DCO said a motorcycles and cars market, a book fair and a medical camp would be arranged at the same venue once a week.

He said booking of stalls was already underway. “Vendors with relevant experience will be preferred in allotment of stalls,” he said.

The DCO said a bus service would also be started from various areas of the city to the bazaar.

The affairs of the bazaar would be managed by a Model Bazaar Welfare Organisation.

In Gujrat, a Sasta Model Bazaar will be inaugurated on Friday (today). The inaugural ceremony will be held at 10am and will be presided over by MPAs Haji Imran Zafar and Haji Nasir Mehmood. Market Committee Administrator Zulfiqar Aslam Pehalwan said that sasti roti and sasta salan (gravy) will be sold at Rs20. Other items will also be sold at a 20 per cent discount, he added.
