Financial malpractice: PTI, PML-N fling more mud at each other

LAHORE:

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) continued trading allegations against each other’s leaders on Tuesday, with the former accusing Nawaz Sharif of tax evasion and the latter questioning Imran Khan’s purchase of his house in Islamabad.

PTI spokesman Shafqat Mehmood said that Sharif had paid no taxes while in exile, as borne out by the nomination papers he filed in May 2008 for NA-123 Lahore VI.

“Answering question no 10 relating to the taxes paid by the applicant during the last three years, the answer given by Nawaz Sharif was ‘nil’. This was the period when Sharif had assets in Pakistan that were not shut down but were generating income,” he said in a press release. “The fact is that Sharif was in exile, not his assets,” he said.

Mehmood said that Sharif paid Rs2 million in 2009-10 and Rs2.5 million in 2010-11 as tax on income accrued from his shares in Chaudhry Sugar Mills. “The same mill was also giving him dividends in the years he was in exile, but no tax was paid,” he said.

He said that the Sharifs had been convicted of tax evasion by the Lahore High Court in 1999, for failing to pay tax, among other things, on a helicopter worth a million dollars at the time.

PML-N Senator Pervez Rashid said that Imran Khan was unable to explain how he had bought a massive tract of land in Bani Gala before his ex-wife Jemima Khan “came to his rescue” and said that she had gifted him the property. “Everyone know Imran runs a business of benami properties,” said Rashid.

He said that Shafqat Mahmood had been a director at Punjab Bank and he knew well that the Sharifs did not indulge in financial malpractices. “When the Sharifs were in exile their companies were paying regular taxes. Since Sharif was not a director in any of the companies his family owned, the question of paying income tax does not arise,” he said.

I think by doing by blaming each other you are not helping country or country men but you are helping Zardari and his corrupt team who have been looting Pakistan and destroying the economy of Pakistan who have made life of a common man miserable.
You both should fight on one point agenda that get Zardari and his team out out of the office and put them behind the bars. Once it’s done then you guys can sort out your problem but I think at the present time you should focus on one point agenda otherwise history will never forgive you.
And one thing more if Pakistan remain on the world map then we can do the politics as well if no Pakistan then no politics so get Zardai out to keep Pakistan on the world map.

    I simply donot understand this?

Why are people asking about Imran Khan’s assets? Has he ever been in Power like Nawaz Sharif. Imran Khan never has been a Prime Minister, or a Chief Minister. He has never had access to tax payers money and large public funds. Everyone knows he made money by playing county cricket.

Imran Khan never had the power or changed tax laws or custom duty laws to benefit his factories as Nawaz Sharif did. He never had the power to secure loans worth billions of rupees from National banks like Nawaz Sharif. Imran Khan was never in power to take commissions from contracts.

I am confused why no leader of PTI takes this stance. Its simple.

I’m generally very unhappy with the way IK
collects donations. IK comes on TV and starts praising random businessmen without
giving full disclosure about receiving funds from them.

This is very dangerous and very have huge conflict of interest…

It’s find for IK to collect donations but he needs to give
adequate disclosures in his TV discussions.,,

In one way or the other we must accept as true gentlemen and gentlewomen that we are corrupt at all levels. Who ever gets a chance or moves around with correct connections will avail this opportunity. We should now accept it as a national tragedy but with wry smile. Right now we must only talk about real issues which concerns most to all common persons on the street. Can anyone name any institution which is corruption free???

I dont know who is good or who is bad but i know for sure that Imran khan does not know the ABC of politics. you all know Imran started this blame game against PML N and in the process has released pressure from the PPP. Imran has become so frustrated to become prime minister that he is spitting fire against everybody without realizing his own political stature.

Sharifs are Pakistan’s top industrial family who pays billions in direct taxes and at this level its not uncommon to have disputes with tax authorities. Whereas Imran has no source of income, never had any business and never had any responsibilty in government and still owns property worth billions. What would happen if he and hungry crowd around him are handed over some authority? They will tear apart every brick and take it to their homes. We should never take that chance.

Shame for Imran Khan. He has no policy. He knows just how to blame others. His only target is Nawaz Sharif. This is no politics. It was Sharif Brothers who gave him land to build cancer hospital. This was Nawaz Sharif who relaxed all duties and taxes so that machinery can be imported for hospital without any taxes. sharif Brothers contributed much for the construction of hospital and today Imran is criticizing them. He should have been thankful to Sharif Brothers who fully cooperated him for building the hospital.

I’m amazed!!! This was clear from the beginning that no matter what happens the army and the establishment will try their best to close the doors of power for PML-N. So far they are succeeding thanks to people like IK. This is the only country where the opposition parties fight with eachother other than the government. Wait PTI will be one after the next elections but right now its not. Right now its just a pressure group which claims to be the face of the nation like DPC or IJI. So please pti trolls wake up and stop being used by the establishment as this has been done many times before in our history just before the elections. What you guys are doing is just getting played by the military who wants some favourable civilian government. Obviously their first choice is their own pti but friends they don’t mind zardari again for next 5 years when it comes to NS. Come on people are you guys this stupid? just read your history carefully its pretty obvious.Recommend

imran is assistant to zardari and an underhand ppp man, just like mqm, q league and ANP. He’s been given the job of splitting pmln votes in punjab. It looks more certain now that his reward will be a role in next punjab govt, if he manages to split the votebank. He’s a shame for Pakistan as he’s doing his best to help ppp win next election. Double standard guy with no clear policies on anything at all. His first attack is always against N League. His supporters do exactly the same. Pepole in punjab can clearly see imran’s mission.

He knows he stands nil chance of becoming prime minister or president next election , so he’s focusing all his energies to become Chief Minister of Punjab, with Zardari’s backing. I was his supporter until i discovered his real intentions of splitting punjab and ensuring ppp gove next time around.

I love how everyone here just “makes up”, “assumes” and “derives” pieces of information. Either you all are delusional or completely blindfolded. I won’t even tackle anyone who shares conspiracy theories but to put the matter at rest let’s just say we have one political party currently running the country which has done absolutely nothing but corruption in the the past four years. We failed to meet the economic goals set by our Finance Minister, these goals were achieved every year that Musharraf was in power. Hey now, before you call me an “pro-American establishment” (whatever that means) agent, I am in no way a supporter of dictatorship but merely just pointing out a fact.

On the contrary we have the coalition partners (MQM, ANP being the main culprits) who have been acting like a turtle’s shell to keep PPP in power. They’re equally responsible for the social and economic crisis we’re currently in.

PML-N has been TRIED and TESTED. PLEASE for god’s sake stop supporting Nawaz and Shahbaz, have you seen the current governance in Punjab? Crimes/Kidnappings/Extremism are at all all-time high, one minute Shahbaz calls the militants his brothers next minute he’s assaulting Imran. Which mouth should we believe when there are so many.

As a person who’s going to vote for the first time, I will vote for PTI. Not because its a party of defectors, but because the people who did join Imran had the audacity and shame to leave the current government and join for a higher cause. There is humanity beyond one’s self. If we as a nation give Imran a chance I can’t promise that he will deliver but I can promise it could not be worse than what it is right now.

    May Allah bless our country.
