Dual nationality case: Farahnaz Ispahani’s National Assembly membership suspended
PORTSMOUTH, UK: This is with reference to Fasi Zaka’s article “Democracy and dual nationality” (May 29). It is a very good and informative article. I would like to add some points to the ones that the writer has mentioned.
First, research suggests that diversity in any place brings fruitful change, so dual nationals can play a role in bringing positive change in the culture and legislation of the country of their residence. Secondly, our single nationality holding politicians have proved to be good only at deception and corruption and have very limited knowledge about international politics. Dual nationals can help in educating them by getting involved in mainstream politics. In this regard, I feel that the Supreme Court’s decision in the Farahnaz Ispahani case will not bring any positive change in the country.

MNCs and Sindh’s dilemma
Wonders of dual nationality is that that prime ministers and presidents are imported from abroad like Shaukat Aziz and Moin Qureshi. As such guys have no interest in living in the country so it doesn’t matter them if they even sell the whole country. Once their term is over they go back to the country from where they have come from and no court or any accountability forum within Pakistan can put hands on them.
