FAISALABAD:
The agricultural department of Punjab has asked rice growers to start cultivation immediately without any delay in order to achieve a bumper crop.
In a statement, a spokesman for the department said the most suitable time for planting rice varieties of ARI-6, KS-282, KSK-133 and Niab ARI-9 was from May 25 to June 7 while Super Basmati could be cultivated from May 25 to June 20.
Besides these, June 1 to 20 is the best time for cultivating Basmati-370, Basmati-385, Basmati Pak, Basmati-2000 and Basmati-515. Similarly, Basmati-198 can be cultivated in Sahiwal and Okara from June 1 to 15 while the suitable time for planting Shaheen Basmati is June 15 to 30.
