Targeted attack: SSP, doctor killed in Karachi

Gunmen shoot SSP Shah Mohammad and Dr Dilshad Ghauri in the head near Labour Square, police terms it target killing.

KARACHI: SSP Admin Shah Mohammad and Dr Dilshad Ghauri were killed when unidentified gunmen shot them in the Korangi area of Karachi on Monday, reported Express News.

According to the police, SSP Mohammad had gone to visit his friend, Dr Ghauri, at his clinic near Labour Square, and at the time of his return, gunmen shot them in the head outside the clinic.

The police recovered 9mm bullets from the site of the incident. The bodies have been shifted to Jinnah hospital.

Express News correspondent Nadeem Khan reported that the SSP was traveling alone in his jeep without any of his guards.

DSP Korangi Qasim Ghauri said that the incident seems to be one of targeted killing. IG Sindh Mushtaq Shah assured that investigations into the incident have been initiated.

Eyewitnesses said that four men, traveling on two motorcycles, were involved in the incident. They said that two of the men fired on the SSP and the doctor, and they all managed to flee.

In another incident, two men died after they were fatally wounded in an armed attack in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. The deceased were taken to a nearby hospital, where they succumbed to the injuries.
