Corruption allegations: KMC sacks ex-chief of parks

Khan was recently demoted to a consultant after corruption allegations surfaced against him.

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) sacked the general parks and horticulture director, Liaquat Ali Khan, who was recently demoted to a consultant after corruption allegations surfaced against him.


The KMC administrator, Muhammad Hussain Syed, signed Khan’s termination letter on Saturday night before leaving for an international tour. Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Establishment started an investigation into possible corruption during the construction of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park which cost the government billions of rupees. Khan was heading the parks department at the time of the construction.
