KARACHI: The monthly income from Behbud certificate of the National Savings Scheme is the lifeline of senior citizens, retired government employees and pensioners since only those who are more than 60 years old can invest in it. The present limit of investment per individual is Rs3 million. In view of the rising cost of living, and because there is no other source of income for such people, the government should increase this limit to Rs5 million per person. The finance minister is requested to consider this proposal and include it in the budget for 2012-13.

In other cases, practically this limit is Rs.6 million, if we add the allowed investment of pensioners fund scheme, with the same rate of return. As such, it is proposed that this limit of combined investment may be increased to PKR 12 million.Recommend
