KARACHI: At least two cases were transferred out of the Anti-Terrorism Courts on Thursday and Friday.

On Friday, the case of Shahjahan Adnan, who is charged under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosives Act and 13-B of the Arms Ordinance, was transferred to Malir from the ATC-I. Adnan’s lawyer appealed that the case of another person named in the challan, Amir Shehzad, had been transferred as well.

On Thursday, the case of Naeemzada – who was being tried in jail over the course of several months – was transferred to the DG West from ATC-III since it reportedly did not fall within the ATC’s jurisdiction. Naeemzada was charged under sections 302, 392, 396 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The murder charge relates to an alleged robbery on a bus last year.
