Gang rape: Burki police yet to arrest suspects

Fariha was gang raped by the men.

LAHORE: Burki police have been unable to arrest three men suspected of raping a girl four days ago. According the FIR, on May 18 Fariha* and Fauzia* of Phularwan village were pulled into crop fields by three men, identified as Naseem Akram, Jameel Akbar and Kaka. Fariha was gang raped by the men. Villagers rescued the girls after Fauzia cried for help.Fariha’s mother registered the FIR under Sections 376 (rape) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or for a shorter terms) of the Pakistan Penal Code on May 19. Investigation Officer ASI Shaukat said police were trying their best to arrest the suspects. He said that they had arrested some family members of the two named suspects. Fariha’s father described the suspects as “influential” and alleged that the police were hesitant to arrest them.

Has the number of rapes gone up in Pakistan or its being reported more ? I wish someone, thats you journalists, do an analysis and try to find a correlation on why this is increase is happening. If someone can find a reason, then there can be a solution.
