MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan faced a police probe and a lifetime ban from Mumbai’s main cricket stadium on Thursday following a furious late-night row with staff at the ground, officials said.
The actor, who co-owns the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders, took a group of youngsters including his daughter Suhana onto the pitch of the Wankhede Stadium after a match on Wednesday night.
A security guard tried to stop them from playing, leading the multi-millionaire actor to argue angrily for 10-15 minutes before finally giving up and leaving the stadium, an AFP photographer witnessed.
“Security officials told him to leave, but Shah Rukh Khan started the brawl,” Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) secretary Nitin Dalal told NDTV news.
“He entered the ground half an hour after the game. The officers told him that this was not the right time. He misbehaved and he used foul language,” he added.
Dalal said the MCA had filed a police complaint and would ban the cricket-crazy star from future attendance at the Wankhede Stadium.
“He’ll not be allowed for any match – Test match, one-day international or any T20 or IPL matches hereafter. That is what we have decided,” said MCA treasurer Ravi Savant.
The sweaty and dishevelled appearance of Khan, one of the most popular stars of the nation’s prolific Bollywood film industry, was a far cry from the carefully managed image presented through his advertising and acting roles.
The 46-year-old was embroiled in another ugly row in January after a female director accused him of assaulting her husband at a late-night party.
Khan has also been summoned to appear before a court in Jaipur later this month after he was seen smoking at the city’s main cricket stadium, in violation of anti-smoking laws.

See the poor guard and see the badsha SRK. Contest between unequals.
I am sure that guard will have to look for a new job tomorrow. Whereas our great SRK will roam around carrying a victim tag.

@syed Parwez Hussain, May you please explain your statement when you mean “This is democracy what India have”, I am afraid your comment makes no sense in this blog. However would like to know what you meant…

MCA has also blamed SRK of being drunk which he wasn’t, as per the available videos so SRK has been alleged wrongly as well.

It’s all about the rules — doesn’t matter who it is, needs to abide by the rules. The pitch curator spends so much time preparing the pitch that some kids could mess up in a matter of minutes. Ultimately it could result in ICC taking away the stadium’s hosting rights. We as Pakistanis need to learn from this and make sure that no one is above the law! Kudos to Wankhade Stadium Management.

There is nothing to be with Muslims in this kind of situation. You made him star and eventually so arrogant that he didn’t care about any one. So many celebrities are involves in event like this across the world. So stop this religious racism.

Amongst the top three Khans of Bollywood ie Shahrukh, Salman and Amir, the last named is the most well behaved and finest actor. Salman too is very popular and is sought after by his fans but Iam afraid Shahrukh is in news for all the wrong reasons lately.

@syed Parwez Hussain: “This is democracy what India have”
And what is wrong with this? He is not being singled out for his faith but because of breaking rules. Isn’t it good to enforce rules for all not just the poor?
@mr. righty rightist: Your taste was in poor form. This is an issue of Shah Rukh Khan’s attitude. Do not bring his faith in the equation.

@Raja: Except for one reader “Mr. RIghty Rightist” who brought up Shah Rukh’s relgion – I don’t think anyone else is looking at it from religious lense.Certainly none of the articles in the Indian press have referred to his religion.

@malik: Not a chance. Once he is shown to be right in the media, if the security guard loses his job, MCA will get into trouble. Democracy and the power of the media.

This has nothing to do with India, democracy, Muslims, religion etc. SRK has been called badshah so long that some corner of his mind actually has begun to believe in his own legendary status, that he is indeed a “badshah” who is above all rules. This is about a rich, important and powerful man who is becoming intoxicated with his self-image and sense of invulnerability. What he has forgotten is that India has changed from the 1960s, when the Nawab of Pataudi could manage such social distance from a “serving class”. That gap has almost vanished, mentally if not economically!! That indeed has been the magic of Indian democracy.

After reading ridiculous comments, suggesting that Mr. Khan, should go back to his ancestors home or his parents country Pakistan, and people mocking him, for this act on tweeter. I feel ashamed that this democratic country India or for a matter of fact, even Pakistan. Still base their judgment on minorities. Also most of the reports suggest that Mr. Khan is at fault here. I am not a fan of Shahrukh khan, but I fully support Shahrukh Khan here. If you listen to the audio tape, you will hear that Mr. Khan was abused first, when he enquired about why the child was pushed, he was constantly abused later, by people from the back, calling him drunk-head etc etc. He spoke the truth about the incident, and did say that he abused them verbally. He did a good job, and I support him for this act. These guards verbally, abused a super star, pushed a child, people mocked him, and abused him in the ground. And people are talking about how Shahrukh Khan has lost it, because of his fame, and all the money, he has. He has been a star, since 1992, and since the last 15 years, he is a super-star, with huge fan-following. Why didn’t he loose his head, then? People who are mocking him, should be ashamed of themselves – for acting this way and bringing his personal life out for ridiculous and ill mannered discussions.

There is no point playing cricket in the world if a superstar like SRK cant enter in a stadium. Shame on security guard and shame on officials. Absolutely disgusted by their behavior.

@Ammar: In a democracy a superstar should not be allowed to bully a guard. I am proud of MCA management. For those that are making this a religious issue remember 2 things:
1) Recently when Shah Rukh was delayed at US immigration for a second time, Indian government sought and obtained an apology from US.
2) His popularity and success and wealth could not have been possible if only Indian Muslims patronised his movies.

He is a well behaved actor. This is just politization of the issue. I just dont understand, Why this ban being imposed on him. Misuse of power by Vilasrao deshmukh.
Even if he misbehaved 5 year ban is unjustified.

For those Pakistanis who were stating that Shah Rukh was victimised because of his religion :
here he apolizes for his behaviour. http://www.samachar.com/I-apologise-for-my-misbehaviour-at-MCA-says-Shah-Rukh-Khan-mf2bK6heifi.html
The same Shah Rukh who everyone supported when he was unfairly detained in US received no support when he tried to bully a guard using his status and threatened to bury him alive.

Some people are so obsessed with religion that they see nothing beyond. We think that what ever happened with Shahrukh could have happened to any Indian of any religion.
