LONDON: A group of nine men of Pakistani and Afghan origin were sentenced to jail Thursday for grooming white British schoolgirls for sex, using drink and drugs.

The men, aged between 22 and 59, were convicted Wednesday of conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with children under the age of 16, and other offences.

Passing sentence at Liverpool Crown Court in northwest England, judge Gerald Clifton gave them prison terms ranging from four to 19 years.

Some of the girls were as young as 13 at the time.

“All of you treated them as though they were worthless and beyond any respect,” Clifton told the defendants.

“One of the factors leading to that was the fact that they were not part of your community or religion.

“Some of you, when arrested, said it was triggered by race.

“That is nonsense. What triggered this prosecution was your lust and greed.”

The abuse took place in the market town of Rochdale outside Manchester in northwest England.

Eight members of the gang were of Pakistani ethnic origin. They included taxi drivers, a takeaway worker and a religious studies teacher. Some were married fathers.

The other gang member was a 22-year-old Afghan illegal immigrant who will be deported once he has served his four-year sentence for conspiracy and trafficking.

Clifton said the group had been “grooming and sexually exploiting” several young girls.

“In some cases those girls were raped callously, viciously and violently,” the judge said.

“They were going through a period in their lives full of difficulty and misery.

“One had left her parents’ home, another had been in care for many years.

“You attracted them to your company by flattery, free food, and alcohol.

“Some of you acted to satiate your lust, some to make money out of them.”

The man considered the ringleader, a 59-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons, was jailed for a total of 19 years for conspiracy, two counts of rape, aiding and abetting a rape, sexual assault and a count of trafficking within Britain for sexual exploitation.

“He has objected from the start for being tried by an all-white jury and subsequent events have confirmed his fears,” his lawyer Simon Nichol said.

Mohammed Sajid, a 35-year-old who was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment, would ply victims with alcohol before having sex with them at his flat, where groups of men would gather and “pass around” the girls.

He will be deported to Pakistan after serving his sentence.

Adil Khan, a 42-year-old married father, made pregnant a 13-year-old victim who believed she was in love with him. Khan was jailed for eight years.

Well It is a shame but many Pakistanis who come in Europe think of European Girls are easy meat and they only persuade them to have sex and have a nationality. I almost know 10 European women who were betrayed by Afghan, Arab and most of all by our Pakistani brothers who defrauded them and left them with children after three years. When Pakistanis want to have nationality then they stoop so low that you cannot even imagine but when they get the nationality then they think they are the kings and then they bring religion into discussion and dump these girls.
My compatriots are a shame not only to Pakistani community but to Islam in general as well in Europe.

I have a request to all of my fellow Pakistani people that this problem of Child sex is prevalent in Pakistan and it is so much common that you cannot even imagine. My Mother just used to color my Brown Hair in the past so that when i would be playing cricket outside or at school then nobody can sexually harass me. I know at least four people who were molested during childhood . The problem is prevalent and Our parents dont cooperate and we cannot even share this with Parents. I am myself a victim as I was about to be abused atleast thrice in my life and once by a Religious figure but thankfully i got away every time.
So My request to Pakistani parents is that never leave your children alone even with your relatives. I have heard so many stories and met so many people that now I can only say we are living in a Perverse Soceity of Pakistan. So Please save your Children from Sexuel Perverts as they are everywhere in Pakistan and this malicious act of Molestation is common for Guys as well as Girls in Pakistan

The pakistani-British community is highly regressive. The imams have a very strong hold on the social life of british muslims. There is a mentality highly prevalent amongst pakistanis in britain that White girls are immoral, behaya and so raping them is only teaching the non-muslim beghairat girls a lesson. This misogynistic mentality is nothing new, girls in pakistan have always had to face such disgusting mentality of pakistani men. They regard any girl without a dupatta or hijab as ”bad-charactered”.
All the burden of rape in pakistani society is placed on the girls, there is no pressure on men to exercise self-control,they have full license to behave like desperate cavemen because society always blames the raped girl and never the rapist man in pakistani society.

Dude – no one is saying that every Pakistani in the UK is a pervert. But the fact is that these kind of crimes exist because no one tackles the root of the problem, which is that muslims are taught to believe that they are different and better than others – and this is especially true with Pakistanis (maybe to justify partition and the undying hatred for India?). As someone mentioned above, the Rinkle Kumari case is no different, except that (thankfully) rule of law prevails in the UK. Whether the jihadis in Pakistan or the paedophiles in Britain, it is the same ideology that manifests itself in acts of violence and terror against ‘the other’.

Never having lived in UK, I do not have information. But based on some of the comments, it looks like there is a bad trend (not universal by any means) and in many case it is the religious leaders themselves who re-inforce it. If this is the case then it is not just these 9 people who should be punished but an attempt should be made to identify and report on prayer leaders who are spreading intolerance/hate in this manner. This onus has to be on the British Pakistani community to partner with the police and hand such bad eggs in, otherwise the community will continue to be branded.

Frankly I cannot think of a punishment severe enough for such prayer leaders. Not only do they bring a bad name to the British Pakistani community but Islam because the host community associates the actions of these prayer leaders and views them as being sanctioned by Islam.

Well this unfortunate event happens in western society as well, with people from all race background. The reason that muslims are highlighted is that we portray ourself as holier than thou type of people, sinless, pious, holy, etc. So when this happens, as it says a religous leader is also involved, it throws all this piousness out of door.

Yes it also happens in Pakistan. The only difference is that people in western society get arrested and imprisoned for this henious crime, here they have the victim family hounded and thrown in jail, using state machinery.

The majority should be blamed for its failure and for cowardice to uphold the values and ideals of humanity (not just a particular religion which is getting into disrepute because of what Muslims, particularly Pakistanis, around the world are doing. This is one instance. You have not said or done enough to condemn and punish those who have engaged in terrorism in the name of Allah and Islam. Or the forced conversions of Hindu minor girls in your own country by thugs who are supported by mullahs and dubious lawmakers. That is why you — the majority — are equally responsible for not standing up and raising your voice in opposition to such perverts of sexual behaviour and also religion.

The simple fact is that Pakistani society has become primitive owning to decades of Mullaism (as opposed to true spirituality). There is also too much focus on judging others than trying to make oneself better. Incidents like these are just a reflection of that. While you will see a large number of people supporting Mumtaz Qadri in their primitiveness, they will also be contributing to Pakistan being the king of porn watchers. Both reflection of a crude society in which people do not have control over their animal tendencies.

The sad story of this report merely confirms that we muslims are more likely to be involved in crime then other races such as hindus. In UK, the muslim population comprises 2.7% and the hindus makeup 1% (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DemographyoftheUnitedKingdom)

However, the prison population comprises 12.28% muslims and the hindus as 0.51% which is proportionately less then the general population (see http://www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/SN04334.pdf). The hindus are even more law abiding then the indeginious people and are more successful then us although we are taught otherwise in Pakistani schools.

Studies in the west have shown that we will continue to go downhill unless we change our attitude towards religion and put more emphasis on education. Almost all the men convicted today were either taxi drivers or working in takeaways. They probably concluded that because our ancestors were marrying girls who were not even teenagers tthen it should be fine with them. I am afraid we need to apply common sense and reject this medieval beliefs and teachings. That includes almost everything what a mullah would say.

I live in the US but I moved to the UK in the mid 1990′s for 4 years for professional reasons.

I got involved with the local school system in the south-east of England as a volunteer because the school had a large Pakistani student population and the parents were not conversant in English. The school needed a Governor who could communicate with Pakistani parents.

    I noticed:

Pakistani boys were mainly thugs who threatened their teachers; teachers were deathly scared of these students. These students were 13-14 years old!

Every week a student would be threatened with expulsion, their parents were asked to come in. Invariably it was a mother, fathers wouldnt show. These women could only speak Punjabi in a dialect I couldnt decipher, who would beg me to help their thuggish sons stay in school. I was scared because I couldnt really help; if you beat up a teacher then its curtains.

On the other hand, the Pakistani girls! They ace all their courses. They are loved by teachers. All this while they are working at home helping mothers cook and clean. And what happens? After they clear their A’s and are dying to go to Uni, they are forcibly married off to some cousin in Mirpur, Pindi or Jhelum who arrives in the UK to become a cabbie or a takeaway guy. Then ends up grooming young white children as prostitutes.

    Pathetic people, pathetic future.

Your Mullahs have been spreading hate culture. In Pakistan it is against India, America etc. In UK it includes the British. This resulted in a very serious situation in the present case. Your mullahs will need to stop their hate campaigns. There is so much good in Islam, let that be brought out. I shudderr to think of a similar situation that happened in germany under Hitler. You have to realise that a very large percentage of muslims are good God fearing people and, they will suffer bad for no fault of theirs. How many muslims will bear muslim girls being treated the way British girls have been treated. It is time the good moderate muslims controlled Islam all over.

All those who say that its only the minority who is involved in such cases. I agree but the truth is that these type of cases with Pakistani men have been coming out for some time now. There are two or three high profile ones in the UK and several minor ones while there are two or three many Western countries.

A recent example is Australia. A gang of Pakistanis and Arabs (There were 14 Pakistanis and only one or two arabs) raped several girls and told them that this will teach them a lesson because they were prostitutes.

There are too many examples overseas where Pakistanis either marry white women or go to despicable lengths with them to get nationality. Afterwards they divorce them come back home and take a 10 year younger bride with them.

I think it is definitely the mentality of the parents and children whatever you say which affects them.
