KARACHI: Former Sindh information minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MPA Sharjeel Inam Memon said the party would show a “glimpse” of its strength at its planned rally on the Sindh-Punjab border on May 12.
“Benazir Bhutto had also protested at this location and we will put on a preview of our strength. Our workers are ready to defend their leadership,” he said. The rally is scheduled to take place in Kamoon Shaheed near Ubauro.
Memon seems to have taken on the charge of criticising the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership that has started to protest against the PPP. “If the PML-N brings out 5,000 people, we will have 500,000,” he claimed. “Nawaz Sharif says the people are not with the PPP, we will prove otherwise.”
Memon spoke to reporters outside the Sindh Assembly on Monday and offered a running critique of the PML-N. “Chaudhry Nisar,” he said, referring to the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, “begged us till 2008 to let him join the PPP.” Memon said that the PML-N’s rally in Taxila on Sunday was a rally of ‘patwaris and school teachers’ since the party could not amass support. He also said that the PML-N was taking on board those Sindh-based politicians who had already been rejected by the people, such as former chief minister Liaquat Jatoi and Sindh National Front chairperson Mumtaz Bhutto. “Wherever the Sharif brothers go, they make that place impure. We will have to wash it off Sindh.”
“If the PML-N had any moral courage, it would have staged a long march against Pervez Musharraf,” Memon said. “They don’t accept the president and prime minister, but they accept a dictator who they’ve done deals with.” He said the PML-N was doing politics under the cover of the judiciary.
Memon also said Babar Awan, the former federal law minister who is currently being sidelined by the PPP, was not defending Memon in his contempt of court case.
“How can a man who cannot even defend himself – he went to the court and apologised in his own contempt case – defend me? If the case against me starts up again I will defend myself, I don’t need a lawyer. I will say such truths and provide records in the court so they see who else is also liable to be charged with contempt.”

@kashif rizwan your commitment is commendable! you are ceratinly loyal and it shows! however, have you gone through to the current structure of your party? can you tell for my guidance where are BB loyalists these days? i don't have to name them, do I? should the likes of memons,fauzias,awans,sabswaris etcs would have been there if BB was alive today? so far as giving or snatching jobs is concerned, please expect and demand from your party/any govt. to create job opppurtunities as they cannot provide jobs. if they do they just deprive someone else from his livelihood.
Nawaz Sharrif in his tenure dismissed thousands of employees in ssgc and dismissed sindh assembly... people of sindh hate him n now hate mumtaz bhutto.. we are loyal to ppp only and only will vote ppp.. we dont change parties like clothes
and .....what do you think Mr. Memon that you've left anything in Sindh called pure? if you have time spared from mudslinging at sharifs you may read these comments that are eye opening! always riding on poor Sindhis emotions, you think you can do this too time around? i doubt it. PML-N certainly did tremendous development work not only in their two stints but helped out the flood victims last year when they did not get a single vote from here. Sindhis are not ungrateful people nor they forget any favors. despite your four stints what have you done for Sindh, just name one good work. don't tell us distributing bribe in the name of shaheed BB!

Mr. Memon, please dont play any more with Sindh. PPP always ignored Sindh. They will reap what they have sown in previous years. You cannot gather sufficient number of persons for the rally. You have made the life of Sindhis quite miserable.
I endorse the verdict presented above by Adnan Khawaja. For how long Sindhis will vote in the name of Bhuttos? We always voted for PPP but in return what did they give to Sindh? They only gave poverty, corruption and lawlessness to Sindh. We will not attend any rally arranged by PPP. Trend should be changed in Sindh now. PPP may win some seats in coming elections if PTI splits some votes of PML(N). Otherwise PPP is gone in the coming elections.
People should be aware of PPP tactics. They are making fool of Sindhi people since many decades. They always get vote on the name of Bhutto and graves. This time they should not be allowed to play Sindh card. PPP is doing politics of hate and lingual diferences. Sindhi people should elect PML(N) this time because Sindh needs change. PPP even did not do any development in Larkana and Nawabshah. Then what can be expected from them. Last year whole Sindh was affected by flood but these PPP leaders did nothing. During previous PML(N) tenures, Nawaz Sharif visited Sindh many times and did much work for Sindh. Hence this time we shall vote for Nawaz Sharif. We invite Nawaz Sharif to arrange a rally in Sindh and we will actively participate in that. ALLAH BLESS NAWAZ SHARIF.
I agree with Adnan Khawaja and Asifa. PPP always made fool with innocent Sindhis. They are just doing the politics of graves. They have produced nothing during all the previous and present tenures of PPP government. Enough is enough. They always got the votes in the name of Bhutto. This time no Bhutto. This time only PML(N).
There is no doubt that PPP is losing its vote bank in Sindh due to its policies. They always ignored Sindh. People of Sindh need change. I hope that Sindhi people will vote for Nawaz Sharif this time. PPP have been given many chances but they did nothing for Sindh. So no to PPP forever.

These peaope have just played with sincereity of the ordinary sindhi people and make people think that they are the saviours..........contrary to that they are the real plunderers of sindh's wealth and resources.
PPP has the overwhelming majority in sindh and sindhis has always voted for them.......in return they had got worst of governance, corruption and poorest law and order.
If you want to differntiate between Zardari and Nawaz then simply check the development of Larkhana/Nawabshah and Lahore.

PPP always deceived people of Sindh. Nawaz Sharif did many good tasks for Sindh in his previous tenures. All my best are with Nawaz Sharif. I advise the people of Sindh to never vote for PPP. This time they should vote for Nawaz Sharif.
What PPP has given to Sindh? There is poverty, corruption, lawlessness, illiteracy and sickness everywhere in Sindh.
