The head of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Quaid) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Saturday called upon PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif to abandon his “long march” strategy and stop sabotaging the democratic process.

Instead, he said, the PML-N chief should wait for the detailed judgment of the Supreme Court against Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.

Shujaat made these remarks at the book launch of Will & Skill by Mowahid Hussain Shah, his party said in a statement.

“The PML-N leadership had already done an about-turn on his (Nawaz’s) long-march statement,” said Shujaat, advising the PML-N chief to end the confusion and come out with a clear stance.

The recent statement by Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani was a warning for all stakeholders and no one should adopt a path of confrontation, the statement said.

“We will also discuss our strategy once the apex court issues its detailed judgment. In my view, the detailed judgment should be released soon to end the confusion,” he added. Asked whether his party would nominate any of its leaders for the top post, Shujaat said that only the PPP had a right to do so since it is the major political partner in the coalition government.

Rejecting the plea for snap polls, Shujaat said an early election would serve no purpose. “All political parties should prepare for the next elections and the people of Pakistan would decide their fate in the polls,” he added.

He said that elections would be held in March next year.

Nawaz is confused, not going for protests means giving space to PTI and going for protests means hoping the public comes out in huge numbers in this hot weather. Between the devil and deep blue sea.
