FAISALABAD:

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated a new air-conditioned (AC) CNG bus service on Saturday.

Shahbaz also boarded a bus and travelled from the Main Bus Terminal near GTS Chowk to Station Chowk.

Speaking to media, he said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership had completed arrangements for a long march against the federal government.

He said that Faisalabad was a PML-N fortress.

He said that the buses would run on Route 11. More buses would run on other routes. He said that the Abdullahpur flyover will be inaugurated soon.

‘Give us our LHC bench:

Before the CM arrived, hundreds of lawyers vandalised flex displays, posters and banners displayed by the local administration to welcome him.

The District Bar Association (DBA) said that the CM was indifferent to their demand for a Lahore High Court (LHC) bench in the city.

Lawyers protested after reaching a consensus in a general house meeting at the DBA. Lawyers favourable to the PML-N opposed the motion but it was carried.

A protest rally led by DBA president Chaudhary Munawar Sindhu was taken out from DBA to GTS Chowk where the CM was scheduled to inaugurate the bus service.

The protesting lawyers also vandalised pro-PML-N hoardings along the rally route. They also held a sit in in front of the bus stand.
