ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday summoned three top-tier bureaucrats in response to a petition seeking the implementation of 50% ad hoc allowance for police officials in the capital. Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi issued notices to secretary interior, secretary finance and Inspector General (IG) Islamabad Police. Officials of Islamabad Traffic Police and Islamabad police had filed a writ petition contending that the finance division had notified the ad hoc allowance for federal government employees in 2010. The petitioners’ counsel informed the court that on average a police official is on duty for 12 to 16 hours while employees of other departments have an eight-hour working day. “The petitioners forwarded their grievance to IG Islamabad who referred the matter to the interior ministry but the issue is still unresolved,” he informed the court.
