Education: Funds released for scholarships

The Punjab Zakat and Usher Department has received Rs2.2754 billion from the central Zakat Funds said secretary Imran Nasir Khan in a meeting on Thursday.


The meeting approved the release of funds as scholarships for students of Deeni Madaris for 2011-12. Rs1.53 million was released for Bhakkar district, Rs3.37M for Sheikhupura, Rs4.588 million for RY Khan, Rs3.47 million for Kasur, Rs4.91 million for Rawalpindi, Rs1.63 million for Layyah, Rs4.58 million for Toba Tek Singh, Rs1.71 million for Lodhran, Rs3.89 million for Sargodha, Rs1.32 million for Khushab and Rs1.21 million for Nankana Sahib. Funds were also released for general education scholarships for 2011-12. Rs1.88 million for Jhang, Rs7.5 million for Attock, Rs11.27 million for Sialkot, Rs0.21 million for Hafizabad, Rs1.94 million for Rahim Yar Khan, Rs4.16 million for Sheikhupura, Rs3.25 million for Toba Tek Singh, Rs4.4 million for Faisalabad, Rs3.23 million for Kasur and Rs7.68 million for Sargodha among several other districts.
