Renewable resource: Hydel generation increases sharply

ISLAMABAD: Hydropower generation has witnessed a sharp increase owing to improved water inflow in all major rivers and stands at 4,019 MW. According to a report on daily power generation and load-management position, the electricity shortfall in the country further decreased 2.5% to 4,000 MW from 4,100 MW as the total power generation recorded was 11,273 MW against the demand of 15,273 MW during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, production from WAPDA’s thermal generation stands at 1,808 MW and supply from Independent Power Producers (IPP) is at 5,446 MW.  Approximately, 720 MW was supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), the report further said.
