Flexing missile muscle

Published: May 3, 2012

TOPEKA, KANSAS, USA: With regard to Tatat Masood’s article, I hope the rest of the Rawalpindi brass think like he does. As far as Americans are concerned, it is the height of hypocrisy to berate North Korea and Iran for developing their military technology, but only whimper when it comes to India. The US should remember that it was India that started the nuclear race in the region.

Having said that, I believe that Pakistan’s progress lies in developing a sound economy and education system and not only on developing military strength.

    Once one stops associating quasi-religious attributes with a military force, many wonderful intellectual avenues become available.

    @Naeem Khan

    Seems like you need some history lesson..China was the one which started the nuclear race region and India had no choice. Because w/o nukes, India had an overwhelming conventional advantage over Pakistan..get some logic dude..

    India is not the original sinner. Nuclear arms race in Asia began two years after Sino-Indian war of 1962. China became the fifth nuclear power on October 16, 1964 when it detonated its first nuclear bomb. That set off a chain reaction-literally. 10 years later India tested its own device in 1974,again in 1998. And Pakistan began its programme in 70s to eventually carry out n-tests in 1998.
