GUJRANWALA: A woman threw acid on another woman in the Maddo Khaleel village on Wednesday. Speaking to The Express Tribune, Safiya Irshad, a mother of two, said that she had scuffled six months ago with her neighbour, Naila Nawaz, over a small amount of money Nawaz had borrowed from her. Nawaz would abuse her whenever she would asked for the money. She said that she was walking by the Nawaz house on Wednesday when Nawaz’s brothers, Naveed and Salman, forced her into their house. Naila then arrived and threw acid at her face. Safiya Irshad was taken to the Gujranwala DHQ. Trauma Centre Deputy MS Dr Sohail Anjum Butt said it was feared she had suffered damage to her eyes. He said that her life was out of danger. Ladaywalla SHO Faiz Rasool said the suspects had fled their house.
