FAISALABAD:

A paintings and sculptures exhibit titled Father and Daughter Art Exhibition started at the Faisalabad Art Council on Monday.

The exhibition includes works by Syed Ali Abbas and his daughter Syeda Ifrah Ali.

It was inaugurated by artist Dr Sultan Ahmad Abdullah. Speaking at the ceremony, FAC Resident Director Tariq Javaid said the exhibition was part of the council’s effort to promote artists.

Dr Abdullah said the most interesting feature of Syed Ali Abbas’ works was the diversity in the themes of the paintings. However, he said, the presence of the sky in his landscape paintings was a common feature. “I consider this his (artist’s) attempt to connect with God,” he said.

Abbas said his work on silk on water colours on silk had not been done by any artist in Pakistan so far. He said the sculptures were also unique in their style.

His daughter Ifrah Ali has worked with optic illusions in her freehand drawings.

Ghulam Hussain, a fine arts student, said the calligraphy collection was different from the works seen in other art exhibitions in the country. He said he was particularly impressed by the calligraphy done in Cubic patterns.

MSc students Norish Kanwal and Yasmeen Ahmed said they were impressed by Ifrah Ali’s work.
