ISLAMABAD: A woman died of shock after hearing about her son’s arrest in a bank robbery case on Sunday, according to the police. The family, however, claims that she died of shock after seeing her son’s wounds inflicted at the hands of the police. Muhammad Zahid was arrested from his house in Bhara Kahu for his involvement in a bank robbery, police said. During interrogations Zahid confessed to his crime and revealed that he had given the looted money to his maternal uncle, while the weapons used in the robbery were hidden in his house. Dispelling the family’s claims, the police maintained that Zahid’s mother was already ill and died of shock after being informed of her son’s arrest on phone. The woman’s body was brought to the son’s house in Bhara Kahu for burial, the police added. Police said the family had knowledge of Zahid’s activities and were trying to obstruct police investigations in order to get him freed from court. Zahid will be produced before the court for physical remand on Monday, the police added.
