Heritage site: Munter and spouse visit Shalimar

Munter praised the garden’s beauty and took special interest in the conservation efforts underway.

LAHORE: US Ambassador Cameron Munter, his wife Dr Marilyn Wyatt, and Consul General Nina Fite visited the Shalimar Gardens on Sunday, the second day of the ambassador’s visit to the city. Punjab Archeology Deputy Director Afzal Khan greeted the ambassador and gave the US delegation a tour of the 17th century Mughal gardens.  Munter praised the garden’s beauty and took special interest in the conservation efforts underway. Munter visited the first and second terraces of the garden, named Farah Baksh and Faiz Baksh  respectively. At the end of the tour, Munter signed the garden’s guest book and noted his impressions of Shalimar Gardens.
