Police violence, hot-headedness linked to black uniform?

Police, citizens remain divided over whether this is the core issue.

Web Desk April 29, 2012

In a statement issued by IG Punjab Police, Haji Habeerur rehman, the colour of police uniforms was cited as the reason for policemen's "hot-headed" behaviour.

The Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Akhtar Hussain Gorchani agreed with this statement and so did some policemen, but among them were those who begged to differ, saying there was a need for change in the way policemen think rather than dress.

IG Punjab on April 4, had directed senior police officers to send their recommendation regarding the proposed change in police uniform by the next regional police officers conference.

The IG directed all RPOs, deputy police officers and sectional heads to furnish their recommendations on the implementation of the decision.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly mentioned Akhtar Hussain Gorchani as IG Sindh. The error has been rectified.

The IG Sindh is Mushtaq Shah, not the guy shown. He's the Additional IG Karachi Gorchani who 's jurisdiction is only limited to Karachi. Express Tribune get your story straight.
