QUETTA: Additional Sessions Judge-V Quetta on Friday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Jamhoori Watan Party’s (JWP) provincial president Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti and 26 of his guards.

The arrest warrants were issued by Additional Sessions Judge-V Sayed Zulfiqar Naqvi after the Supreme Court Treasury Bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry cancelled the bail plea of Shahzain and his guards granted earlier by the Balochistan High Court.

They were arrested by the Frontier Corps (FC) on December 22, 2010 at the Buleli check post in Quetta for allegedly smuggling weapons from Chaman. Sources say a huge cache of weapons, including 50 Kalashnikov assault rifles, anti-aircraft guns and 46,000 rounds of ammunition, was recovered from the 16 non-duty paid vehicles they were travelling in.
