KARACHI:

Chaos unfolded at the Mass Communication department of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) on Tuesday when activists of Peoples Students Federation (PSF), beat other students and damaged the property on alleged disrespect of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

A university official told The Express Tribune that the PSF activists tried to suspend classes forcibly so that students could attend a programme they had organised. “A group of mass communication students, who were busy in studying, resisted and during an altercation a girl student said few words against Bhutto and the activists,” explained the official.

The department chairman said that PSF demanded immediate action against the students who allegedly made disparaging comments about Bhutto.

They were told that the university will investigate the matter as per rules and regulations which reportedly infuriated the activists who resorted to beating who were identified as Abdul Rahman, Muhammad Awais and Anis Ahmed. The female student who passed the remarks submitted an apology letter.
