Bannu jailbreak: Committee to submit report by March 31

A committee formed by the provincial government to investigate the Bannu jailbreak will submit its report by March 31.


Committee members examined Bannu prison which was broken into by Taliban militants to free their accomplices. They inspected the main gate, walls and cells that were damaged in the jailbreak. Some of the terrorists who fled were sentenced in high-profile cases.

Committee members also interviewed jail officials to determine how the militants had managed to gatecrash the prison and walk away with the prisoners without the least resistance.

The committee is headed by Reform Management and Monitoring Unit Director Dr Ehsanul Haq and comprises Additional Inspector General (AIG) Masud Afridi, AIG prisons Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa,provincial secretary schools and literacy and special secretary interior.

In true tradition this committee will want to interview all the Taliban Attackers and that could extend the period to about a decade. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
