The United States’ rapprochement with Delhi is fragile, as it is not based on similarity of interests, said French scholar Professor Christoffe Jaffrelot, an expert on Indo-US relations. He was speaking at the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) on Wednesday, said a press release issued by the institute. He said that while American interests were strategic and initially lay in the containment of China and confronting Islamist terrorism, India sought real benefits in terms of arms purchase, nuclear technology scientific research and economic and societal collaboration.
