Tourism in Sindh

Letter April 19, 2012
Revenue generated may contribute to employment, small business development, and foreign exchange earnings.

ISLAMABAD: The province of Sindh has a lot of tourist attractions as it possesses wildlife, diverse cultures, scenic spots, a generally sunny and warm climate, bird-watching spots, deep-sea fishing, hunting and diving. In addition, it also has unique archaeological sites such as Moenjodaro, Kaho Jo Daro, Gorakh Hill Station, Ranikot, Bhambore, Chaukandi tombs and the Makli tombs, among others. Besides these, Sindh also possesses shrines of sufi saints and poets in Bhitshah, Sehwan Sharif, Daraza Sharif, Kot Diji and Amri.

All these attractions make Sindh a complete tourist destination but unfortunately, it has not been able to realise its full potential in this area. The government is appealed to do something worthwhile in this regard because already a lot of time and resources have been wasted in non-productive activities, rhetoric and gimmicks. It is now time to act so that revenue generated through tourism may contribute to employment, small business development, and foreign exchange earnings.
