TANDO JAM: The 60 students who were taken into custody for cheating during a Mathematics exam were released by the police due to political pressure in the Tando Jam area, Express News reported.

According to police officials, only seven out of the 60 students remained in custody after political parties pressured the police into releasing them. Since most of the students were released, the police decided to let the seven remaining students go as well.

Officials from the education board said that instead of students, legal action will only be taken against the school management now.

Earlier, on the last day of Matric examinations under the Hyderabad Board of Education, police took into custody 60 students who were caught cheating on a Mathematics exam during a raid at a home-based examination center.

In collusion with two teachers, 60 students of Government Boys High School were engaged in solving a mathematics paper at a house in Latif Town.

Upon receiving a tip-off, police had raided the house under the supervision of Education Board Assistant Controller Ghulam Mohammad Mughal and took into custody all cheating materials as well as the students.

“Legal action will be taken against those who run illegal examination centers and the 60 students who have been caught cheating”, Mohammad Mughal had said.
