Civic inspections: 84 shops challaned for overcharging

Price control magistrates checked 412 shops, and handed out fines of Rs50,400 in total over the last three days.

LAHORE: City government inspectors conducted a series of prices, food, drugs and labour checks over the last few days and handed out challans for violations, on the orders of District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal, said a press release. Price control magistrates checked 412 shops, challaned 84, registered seven cases, and handed out fines of Rs50,400 in total over the last three days. Drug inspectors checked 18 medical stores, sealing one for selling expired medicine and taking samples from three others for testing. Two cases were referred to the District Quality Control Board and 14 cases launched in drug courts. Food inspectors checked 476 restaurants, marriage halls, bakers and other shops and imposed fines of Rs79,000 in total for hygiene violations.
