Road mishap: 8 dead after bus falls into AJK ravine

The fatalities included a five-year-old child.

MIRPUR: Eight persons, including four from a single family, were killed and 26 others were injured, when a passenger bus skidded off the road and fell into a deep ravine in Palandri district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Friday. 

The accident occurred in the outskirts of Palanadri city when the Hajeera-bound bus fell skidded into a hundred-foot deep gorge after the driver attempted to save a motorcyclist coming in from the opposite direction, said a local official.

Those killed were identified as Prof Ashfaq Hussain, Saeem Jan, Mehnaz, Naseem, Illayas, Areesha Bibi, Nazeera Begam and Muhammad Ishaq. The fatalities included a five-year-old child. The injured were admitted to the District Hospital Palandri.
