ISLAMABAD: The seven-member bench of the Supreme Court hearing the contempt of court case against Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has named newly appointed Attorney General Irfan Qadri as the prosecutor and has adjourned the hearing till April 16,Express News reported.

The judges of the seven-member bench after consulting amongst themselves decided that Qadri , not former attorney general Anwarul Haq would be the prosecutor for the case.

Aitzaz Ahsan, the prime minister’s advocate, spoke to the press after the hearing  saying that he had also brought to the court's notice that one media group was falsely accusing him of being a liar when even the court had not decided that as yet.

He said that it was up to the court to decide if he was a liar or not and requested the owners of that group to make sure that such accusations are stopped.

Earlier, a new argument had begun between the judges and Aitzaz during the hearing when newly appointed Attorney General Irfan Qadir requested the court that he be given some time to review the case.

The court decided to solve this matter by choosing between the former AG and Qadir, but later declared the new AG as prosecutor.

Qadir was appointed as attorney general by the government on Thursday.

During Thursday’s hearing, Aitzaz had insisted on a fair trial for his client under Article 10 (a).

He argued that with the insertion of the article in the 18th Constitutional Amendment, the process of a fair trial is now a fundamental right of every person and added that Supreme Court’s rules are not superior to the Constitution.

The sc shd give out the decision now and not submit to the delaying tactics and cunning tricks of aitezaz. This is an open case, and every one knows that gilani has disobeyed the court and commited contempt.we are sick of these lies. Every one will stand by the cj. If needed, like we did in lawyers movement.
