KARACHI: Academic activities were suspended at Bahria University at Karsaz Road, when its administration received a phone call warning about a bomb on campus on Wednesday afternoon. Naval intelligence officers, bomb disposal squad members, police and staffers evacuated the university and started searching for it. Ambulances reached the site. After searching for two hours, authorities declared the university safe and said the phone call, received at around 1:15pm, was a hoax. DSP Shakeel Awan said that a similar incident occurred at the university in 2009 too. Regular BBA and MBA exams were underway when the call was received. Two sessions had been completed while the remaining two sessions in the evening shift were supposed to begin at 3pm.
