LAHORE:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Javedul Hassan Chishti on Wednesday directed the Kot Lakhpat station house officer to register an FIR against three officials and two inmates of Kot Lakhpat Jail for allegedly torturing a suspected murderer.

Petitioner Humayun Khalid, who is being tried by the same court for murder, told the judge at the last hearing that Head Warders Haleem Fazal and Muhammad Yaseen, Warder Muhammad Liaquat and prisoners Shahid and Naseer tortured him and took Rs13,000 from him.

He said that he had received the money from relatives who had come to visit him in jail.

He said that he went to get a receipt for the amount, as per jail procedure, but the warders demanded a bribe from him.

When he refused, they tortured him in Block-5 of the jail along with the two inmates.

The judge ordered a medical exam at Services Hospital. While an inquiry report by the jail authorities stated that there was no evidence of torture, the medical report confirmed various injuries.
