MULTAN:

A woman who burned herself over an argument with her husband three days ago died at Nishtar Hospital on Monday.

Doctors who had treated Nazia Bibi, 28, a resident of Ghaziabad, at the emergency ward of the hospital said over 90 per cent of her body was burned.

Her brother told The Express Tribune that the deceased had doused herself with kerosene oil and set herself on fire after talking to her husband, Obaid, over the telephone. He said she had recently returned from Dubai where she had moved with Obaid after there wedding six months ago. He said she had separated from Obaid because she was upset with his complaints about her morals.

Talking to The Tribune, Obaid, who returned to Pakistan on hearing about Nazia’s suicide attempt, rejected the suggestion that he had talked with her over the phone. He said they had not talked ever since she came back to Multan.
