SUKKUR:

Jarwar police registered cases against five policemen, and later arrested one of them, for allegedly killing a villager near Gulloo Morr, on Jarwar-Khanpur Mahar link road, in Ghotki district on Sunday.

Abdul Aziz Haiderani, a resident of Pir Bux Haiderani village, was on his way to Jarwar with his friend, Syed Fida Hussain Shah of Momal Ji Mari, on a motorcycle when he was ordered to stop by a group of policemen near Gulloo Morr. However, according to sources, the two men did not stop and were chased by police, who ultimately caught up with them. Police reportedly let Shah go but killed Haiderani on the spot.

However, police claimed that both men were carrying weapons and opened fire on them when they were signalled to stop. Haiderani was killed when police returned fire, while Shah managed to escape.

Haiderani’s relatives, carrying his body, later tried to block the road. However, they were placated by Abdul Rab Pitafi, younger brother of MPA Sardar Ahmed Ali Pitafi, who talked with senior police officials.

Ghotki SSP Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh ordered registration of cases against the culprits. The deceased’s brother, Ameer Bux Haiderani, lodged a complaint with Jarwar police and nominated Shafi Mohammad Bozdar, Sanaullah Narejo, Aftab Malik, Shahjehan Kolachi and Zameer Lakho in the FIR. Bozdar has been arrested, while whereabouts of the other policemen are not known till the filing of this report.
