Animal attack: Five villagers injured by wild boars in Balakot

Hoards of wild boars roam freely in the forests in the area, making mobility difficult for locals.

MANSEHRA:

Five villagers, including a woman and two children, were injured after being attacked by wild boars in Balakot on Sunday.

Master Safeer, a resident of Kot Bhala village, informed the police that his wife, Bushra Bibi, was attacked by a wild boar while she was herding cattle. She received wounds on her stomach and legs. Two children in Nika Gali village and two men in Shohal Mazullah village were also attacked and injured by a group of wild boars.

All the injured were shifted to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital for treatment, police said. According to the locals, hoards of wild boars roam freely in the forests in the area, making mobility difficult.

They also said that the boars occasionally destroy their crops and cause substantial losses.

Despite the government’s efforts to reduce their populations by using pesticides and hunting, there has been no significant decrease in their numbers.
