Rahul Gandhi has agreed to visit Pakistan on invitation from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto, Express News reported on Sunday.
Bilawal, who accompanied his father President Asif Ali Zardari on his personal visit to India, met Congress party’s general secretary Rahul during lunch at the residence of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
During a joint press conference, Prime Minister Singh also said that he was invited to visit Pakistan by President Zardari and would visit soon.
Bilateral talks
Even though Zardari's trip was termed as a personal visit, Singh said that he took advantage of his visit to discuss all bilateral issues. “I am very satisfied with the outcome,” he said.
“Relations between India and Pakistan should become normal. That is our common desire. We have a number of issues and we are willing to find practical, pragmatic solutions,” Singh added.

Current Prince and Future King of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhuttu Zardari :S ..
@truebluepakistani: " ... Most Indians wants to gift Rahul to Pakistan on non-return basis ... "
Alas, ET allows only one recommend click !!
Would I be wrong to assume that you Pakistanis have similar warm feelings towards Crown Prince Bilawal Z. B. ?
Rahul Gandhi is a representative of his constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Is Bilawal?
Why hasn't Bilawal invited any other MP, but only Rahul? Just because his mother was India's PM?
The inviting sends out wrong signals from Pakistan. The accepting of which also sends wrong signals from India.
@Amjad Cheema: Pakistan is not a monarchy. There is no way I will let this British Bilawal, son of Zardari, rule over me and my children.
I remember the big drama when young benazir as Pakistan PM and young Rajiv as the Indian PM met. Nothing much came out of all the optimism then. Unfortunately, both of them are not around now for different reasons or should I say the same reason? .
Who's he going to see? Bilawal himself doesnt live in Pakistan.
@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui: " ... Visit of Rahul Gandhi will promote bilateral relations between Pakistan and India. It will be the beginning of a new era in Pakistan-India relations. ... "
I life were that simple. nobody would go hungry, thirsty, uneducated, jobless, ...
Rahul is a PM wanna-be, Bilawal is a PM will be. End of story.
Bilawal launched as the next President of Pakistan. wah wah.
Once again Shri Rahul Gandhi has played a masterstroke, this time in foreign policy. What a brilliant idea to hold a meeting between the young sensations in the field of politics of India and Pakistan! True friendship and love will usher in replacing the historical bitterness the day our very own, young, dynamic and vibrant Rahul Baba embraces the slightly older Bilawal Bhutto, who is also a great and astute leader in his own right. We, the people of India, affectionately call Shri Rahul Gandhi as Rahul Baba. He is our mass leader, known for his exceptional painstaking efforts at the ground level and austere lifestyle in among the poor and needy villagers of Uttar Pradesh. The future of South Asia lies in his soft but firm hands.
I can declare with full confidence that these two scions of the most honorable families in India-Pakistan history will bring further glory unto their ancestors by humiliating the PM-aspirant belligerent, communal leader Narendra Modi and overambitious rabble-rousing cricketer Imran Khan in their respective arenas in the coming elections.
Why this PTI troll is so jealous of Bilawal. Let the people of Pakistan decide who they want to be their leader.
Both nations thrive on theatrics and sensationalism, may just be the solution for these misdirected prevaricates.
only if Bilawal will be in Pak, not in Soho !
Most Indians wants to gift Rahul to Pakistan on non-return basis
what is this Italian duffer - Rahul going to do in Pakistan? Ask for Hafiz Sayaed's autograph I think.
let new generations of both the countries live in peace and progress after solvinf all issues including Kashmir.
Bilawal invited him to meet in London, a natural meeting place outside of the reach of subcontinent's poors
@Aqua: I know what you mean. ;)
Most Pakistanis and most Indians speak the same language with the same culture for hundered of years. However, they cannot write to each other due to Urdu and Hindi alphebets. This was supported by the religious rightwing and created a gulf between the population. However, with the advent of Internet, now the younger generation is openly communicating with each other using Roman on the computer. I hope most readers catch my drift. Both Bilawal and Rahul have no old baggage that is why their meeting has significance.
@sick of this nonsense Do you believe in Dynasty politics. If he is good let him prove he is good for 10 years then try becoming PM. You live 20 years in foreign country then u will ask to be PM, what are we idiots?
Rahul Gandhi, is more Indian than most NRI Indians commenting here, including myself. I dont support family politics and not a fan pf congress but Rahul has spent his life in India and interacts freely and publicly with the common man, as part of his politics
@Senman: How can you say they are bad for their countries if you havent even seen them in power. Do you have a crystal bowl that can tell the future? Haters will always hate.
Visit of Rahul Gandhi will promote bilateral relations between Pakistan and India.
It will be the beginning of a new era in Pakistan-India relations.
good gesture from both bilawal and rahul. hope our new generation find ways to live in peace with eachother.
May God have mercy on our respective countries. I don't know much about Rahul but I'm sure he won't be much better than Bilawal.
awwww how cute! :s
two princes.
It is election season in Pakistan and if anyone paid attention to the official picture released in one of them Bilawal is standing between Zardari and Singh. This is a perfect picture for an election poster to show that Bilawal has some experience in external affairs. Bilawal will be wise to spend some time in India talking to Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav regarding how to run an election campaign as the problems and constituents for practical purpose are same. Akhilesh Yadav’s landslide victory campaign in UP is a case study for all the political science students and Bilawal could use some of this to consolidate his constituent power.
If the meeting between these two youngsters is not imp then why are some people so jealous? Neither of them is planning to come to power via backdoor but through democratic process. Let the people of their countries be the judge. Hate cannot defeat them, a better program and leadership might. They both have much in common and their family members have suffered at the hands of the terrorist that is why these kids were kept away for safety. More hatred and scorn can only make them more popular due to their family history.
The real lesson Rahul can teach Bilawal is the need to stay in close contact with the electorate. The family name is important but not sufficient.
What is this prince meeting prince event? Both are bad for the respective countries, both lived majority of their lives outside their countries. These wanna be Kings should not get this much publicity.
