Jani Khel Bannu chapter chief shot dead

Unidentified gunmen opened fire at Khalid Khan, who died on the spot.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: At least two people were killed and one was wounded in two separate incidents in Bannu district and Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday, police said.

An official of the Bannu City Police Station told The Express Tribune that Khalid Khan of Jani Khel Tribe was driving to Bannu with Noor Zali when unidentified gunmen opened fire at them. The incident occurred near Ghalla Mandi, Muhalla Nawab in Bannu district.

Khalid, he said, died on the spot while Noor was shifted to the Khalif Gul Nawaz Hospital in Bannu.

However, the killer managed to escape and an FIR has been registered against unidentified persons, police said.

Khalid was chief of the Jani Khel Tribe in Bakka Khel, Bannu Frontier Region. He was also a cousin of Adnan Khan Wazir, who is currently a member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly from PF-72 Bannu-III.

Meanwhile, a watchman at a petrol pump was shot dead in Mohalla Balucha Wala, Pahaarh Poor in Dera Ismail Khan district.

An official of the Pahaarh Poor Police Station told The Express Tribune that Allah Wasaya was found shot dead at midnight in the main bazaar of Pahaarh Poor. He said that unidentified men sprayed him with bullets and escaped. An FIR has been registered against unidentified attackers and an investigation has been launched.
