Under construction: Eight injured in building collapse

After a five-hour operation, Rescue 1122 officials pulled out 10 labourers trapped underneath the rubble.

LODHRAN: Waseem Ahmed, a labourer at an under-construction building, was critically injured when a section of the building collapsed on Wednesday. Nine more labourers were injured in the accident. After a five-hour operation, Rescue 1122 officials pulled out 10 labourers who had gotten trapped underneath the rubble when a section of Lodhran district headquarters hospital collapsed. They said the hospital administration had already started attempts to rescue the labourers when the Rescue 1122 teams arrived. Eight of them were seriously injured and taken to the district headquarters hospital. Two were given aid on the spot. Doctors treating them said that Ahmed, who was in a critical condition, was later transferred to Victoria Hospital in Bahawalpur. The building had collapsed while the labourers were laying the lentel.
