Capacity building: Pak-Japan join hands to revamp teaching system

To equip them with modern methods, around 195 teachers from across the country were trained under a joint venture of the Pakistani and Japanese governments, said a press release issued by National Institute of Science and Technical Education.

The teachers were trained under a three-year project titled “Promotion of Student Centered and Inquiry Based (SCIB) Science Education”, that was completed here on Wednesday. The training was executed with the technical support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Besides training, the project also aimed to help teachers prepare lesson plans for government schools.

At the closing ceremony, the JICA Chief Representative Taka Toshi Mishi Kata stated that the project kicked off in May 2009 and developed teaching plans for grade four to eight (General Science).

The key concept of the General Science curriculum 2006 is SCIB education learning, said an official.
