GARHI KHUDA BUX:

The National Assembly Speaker, Dr Fehmida Mirza, visited Garhi Khuda Bux on Wednesday to pay her respects at the 33rd death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

“The situation in Karachi is worrying but the good thing is that all the parties in parliament that have a stake in Karachi and Sindh, agree that action must be taken across the board,” said Mirza while talking to the media.

Mentioning the threat letters which were sent to those MPAs who supported a resolution opposing the creation of a Mohajir province, she said that it was worrisome issue.

“The government has taken notice and I expect that they will take action against these letters.”

Mirza also rejected the comments that the National Assembly resolutions on the Nato supply routes had not been implemented. “There was a united stand from all parties and if the Nato supply is ‘disconnected’ today, it is because of the implementation of that resolution.”

She said that all parties had a united stance on this matter. “I also attended a high-level meeting recently on this and found consensus; now this is being deliberated upon  in parliament. We have sent out a strong message.”

As far as her own legacy as speaker was concerned, Mirza said that she hoped parties in future parliaments will continue to work together and female representatives will also continue to stand out.
